About Rev. Dr. David Yip
David was born and raised in Hong Kong and grew up in the Christian and Missionary Alliance church tradition from a young age. Through Christian education and church life, he gradually sensed God’s calling to full-time ministry. In 1987, He graduated from Alliance Bible Seminary with a Bachelor of Theology degree. Later, he completed a master’s degree in counseling at China Graduate School of Theology in 1994. He also pursued further studies in Counseling, he later completed a Doctor of Ministry in Counseling degree from Columbia International University in 2017, and most recently a PhD in Clinical Psychology from Charisma University in 2026.
For nearly four decades, David has served in pastoral ministry, theological education, counseling, and leadership training. He pastored several churches in Hong Kong, planted churches, and later co-founded the Hong Kong Institute of Christian Counselors (HKICC), where he trained counselors, caregivers, and ministry leaders to integrate Christian faith with counseling and emotional care. Over the years, he has helped train thousands of counselors and church workers, while also serving as a seminary lecturer and adjunct professor.
A major part of his ministry has focused on emotional healing, counseling, and mental health support within the Christian community. He has written books related to trauma care and disaster counseling, with the desire to bring hope, healing, and practical support to people facing emotional pain and life crises. He strongly believe that today’s church must not only teach biblical truth but also care deeply for the emotional and spiritual needs of people.
In 2020, God led him to the United States, where he first served at Simpson University as an adjunct professor, and later became the Senior Pastor of Greater Boston Chinese Alliance Church. In addition to pastoral ministry, he continues to be involved in theological education, counseling, leadership development, and community care.
David is a member of the following professional organizations:

Through these professional affiliations, he remains actively engaged in the fields of psychology, counseling, emotional care, leadership wellness, and Christian counseling ministry. These memberships also reflect his ongoing commitment to professional development, ethical practice, and the integration of Christian faith with psychological and emotional healing.
His mission is to serve God by building lives, equipping leaders, and bringing healing to individuals, families, and church communities. He hopes to continue integrating pastoral ministry, counseling, teaching, and leadership training so that more people may experience the truth, grace, healing, and transforming power of Jesus Christ.
